This week could determine Russell Martin's future as Rangers manager.

Martin's side are 3-1 down ahead of the second leg of their Champions League qualifier at Club Brugge on Wednesday.

Four days later, Ibrox will host the first Old Firm derby of the season.

Two wins will help the former Southampton manager keep his job, while anything else could lead to a change of manager.

Sunday's 1-1 draw at St Mirren leaves the 'Gers six points behind their bitter rivals Celtic after just three rounds of games.

The best betting sites have installed former Wolves boss Gary O'Neil favourite to replace him.

O'Neil May Receive A Call Shortly

O’Neil’s managerial ability is unquestionable, and he could be the man to bring success back to Ibrox.

He guided Wolves to a 14th-place finish in 2024, with notable wins over Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham, underlining his ability to compete against top opposition.

His earlier success at Bournemouth, securing Premier League survival after a six-match unbeaten run as caretaker, showcased his knack for steadying sides under pressure.

The Englishman has been out of work since leaving Wolves in December 2025, but the chance to manage a club of Rangers’ stature would surely appeal.

O’Neil is currently the 5/4 favourite in the next Rangers manager market.

Dyche Would Be Perfect For Ibrox Role

Sean Dyche will be eager to prove he still has what it takes to manage on the big stage – and few roles come bigger than Rangers.

He transformed Burnley, winning two promotions to the Premier League and guiding them to a seventh-place finish in 2018 that secured Europa League qualification.

Dyche again showed his ability to work in difficult circumstances by keeping Everton up in 2024 despite significant points deductions.

Out of work since leaving the Toffees in January, he would surely view Ibrox as a chance to reaffirm his credentials as a top-level coach.

Dyche is currently priced at 6/4 with betting apps to take the Rangers job.

Gerrard Return On The Cards?

Steven Gerrard was linked with a return to Ibrox earlier in the summer before the club eventually opted for Martin.

The former Liverpool captain is revered in the blue half of Glasgow for halting Celtic’s bid for 10 successive titles, guiding Rangers to the Premiership crown in 2021.

Gerrard, who has been out of work since leaving Al-Ettifaq in January, remains a hero among supporters for that achievement.

Although linked with several clubs since his return to England, few roles would be as appealing as a second spell at Ibrox.

He is currently 2/1 to replace Martin on football betting sites.

Carrick Could Be Keen On Quick Return

Michael Carrick joined the list of out-of-work managers after being sacked by Middlesbrough following their failure to reach the play-offs in May.

He left the Riverside with a win percentage of 46.3%, but paid the price for not securing promotion to the Premier League.

Several clubs are expected to hold talks with Carrick in the coming months, with Rangers potentially offering the most attractive opportunity at present.

Carrick is 3/1 to replace Martin at Ibrox.

Rohl Might Be A Gamble

Amid the uncertainty at Sheffield Wednesday, Danny Rohl’s impact at Hillsborough should not be overlooked.

The German took charge in October 2023 after the club’s worst-ever start to a season and inspired a remarkable turnaround that kept them in the Championship.

Rohl then guided the Owls to a top-half finish before departing just weeks ahead of the new campaign.

His reputation remains strong, and he is currently priced at 4/1 to become the next Rangers manager.

Would Ferguson Fancy A Return?

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson stepped in following Clement’s departure in February – and could yet be asked to do so again.

He managed six wins from 15 matches in charge, with a 2-2 draw with Hibs in May his final game.

“I’ve already lived the dream as a player and captain of Rangers, and to do so as head coach in these last three months has been an enormous honour,” Ferguson said at the time.

With Rangers struggling at the start of the new season, he is currently 5/1 to return to the dugout.

Cooper In Contention

Steve Cooper (5/1), praised for his tactical organisation and youth development, guided Nottingham Forest to Premier League promotion in 2022.

His brief spell at Leicester ended in November 2024 after five months, but his composed leadership and success with limited resources could make him a strong fit for Rangers.

Elsewhere, former Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is 7/1, with West Brom and Scotland coach James Morrison at 8/1

Ralph Hasenhuttl (10/1) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (12/1) appear less likely contenders for the role.
